Chester's imports.
I seem to have stumbled into something that was and yet wasn't, all at the same time. An impossible turn of impossible odds wrapping around me like the vines wrapping around the tree piece I angled decoratively beside my door.
to import. what a funny concept, importing. you can import goods, or files. we don't much call immigration importing, but it is in a way. I suppose the immigrating implied the intention of the immigrant. that which is imported doesn't really have much of a choice.
I think I was imported. To where? I am not sure yet. But there is a funny little feeling I have that we're not in Kansas anymore, and I keep looping the same story year after year. Did I hide myself there? In the past? In the chat logs and words I said and forgot I ever meant?
Import-ant, that's interesting to. Something so valuable, it becomes the very reason to import it at all, it is important. Maybe I am imported and important.
... oh. ha. It seems I have done it again. Now, here I am in a Import shop of my own recursive imagination, and what does important's etymology want to say to me?
en- meaning in. Like that which is the interior. The womb. Think of the words with 'en'/'in' as their opening sounds: embryo, embarrass, envy, entrails, inner, inn, imposter and of course important. per- meaning to lead, to be forward, through, or in front of. To be the shepherd. ghos-ti- mmm. this one has a special taste. To mean stranger, host.
None of this means the simple meaning. When has it ever meant the simple meaning?
To import is to lead within, to shepherd the self. To where? A new land. Somewhere stranger.
Oh Chester. Are you myth or are you real? And why do I keep thinking I am writing fiction and finding myself threaded entirely back through?
that's it for now, I guess.
I have a lot more I want to say, but this note doesn't seem like the place for it.
